Hi, i have the same problem, ‘unable to locate hardware, i try in 3 different computer and different system, windows vista, windows 7 32 bit and windows 7 prof 64 bit, i used to work the 002 in pro tools 8 LE for a year,no problem,but now,i had to reset system and nothing happen,i saw in control panel is not driver for 002 and i try to install manual from device manger,but when i got it drivers,i got it crash in the system and blue screen, i can see something is not compatibility,but i try in 3 different computer and doing the same blue screen in the 3.Digidesign Digi 002 last downloaded: - 2018 version. I’m going to try the steps you mentioned when i get home but if Im missing anything else your input would be very much obliged.
My current assumption is that there are either driver conflicts, or the firewire ports on pc have been maxxed out from previous use with the digi 002 hardware, but I am still able to see my external hardrive via firewire to those ports when connected. Went to Avid to get the most up to date drivers for the 002 win xp system and the only thing coming up in device mng is 2 “legacy audio device” listings which i cannot uninstall now. And, if you paid for the program with your interface then you shouldn’t feel the least bit guilty pirating an upgraded version when it’s quite obvious that the company doesn’t mind releasing non-functional software(yes, you paid for itdon’t pay for it again)Samplitude blows the lower end Pro Tools away anywa圜hances are, you will not find a 100% working solution to this problemSwitch products.
And, with as many complaints on the exact same issue plastering the official Avid community boards coupled with the almost condescending responsesI switched to a Pro-Sonus audio interface.I feel really silly for not doing it sooner as I have had zero problems sincePro Tools LE is just not worth continuing to rely on a corporation that blatantly ignores core issues with a product that is supposed to be the so-called “industry standard.” Just scour the forums and read the actual responses from Avidand when you finally feel like pulling your hair out? Just switch products. I am fairly experienced with multiple platforms and finally got tired of reinstalling Pro Tools(and drivers) every single time I wanted to use it(on both my Macs and my PC).
