The mouthpiece is a vintage "Kaspar Wicky GENEVE" with a french taper. The valves are smooth and fast, but the surfaces show some wear, as you would expect it from an 80 year old horn. Other than that, the horn really looks great for its age. I find a small ding on valve slide 2 and solder marks on valve slide 1 and 3, there is an old patch fixed to the tubing of the 3rd valve (please check the pictures). There are no dents on the horn, but there is evidence of repair work done to the valve slide section. I see no corrosion or red hot under the plating, the alloy looks healthy. All caps ands slides are free, new corks were added to the water key and to the valve buttons. This horn was chem cleaned and professionnally refurbished prior to offering it here on ebay. On the bell, it has: "SYSTEME PROTOTYPE / FB / F. This horn is in original condition with good original silverplating, it looks great for its age. BESSON breveté star flugelhorn with serial number 89316, which puts its manufacture to the late 30ies, before World War 2.
It's been inspected by our professional trumpet technician and is ready to go.Here comes a very rare and hard to find original F. There are no dents to be found throughout the instrument, and very little wear on any of the instrument's finish. Its silver plate is beautiful and bright, and it was well-protected and well-maintained by its previous owner. This specific Besson C trumpet is a real beauty. So a Besson Meha by Kastul is the closest some trumpet players might get to an authentic French Besson instrument.
Besson. He had a collection of authentic Besson parts from France and knew enough about the production of Besson trumpets where he could easily help them produce instruments in America, which is where a great many Besson trumpets were ending up anyways. Beyond Kanstul-brand instruments, he began making instruments for other companies too, the most recognizable being F.
It was an endeavor where he could use his years of experience in manufacturing and production, and apply that to his own business where he could innovate and have creative control.
